The Big lakes of the Pamir
I would like to write about Zorkul and especially about Sarez, but they remain only in my dreams. Your able to travel I is continuously increasing, but slowly. Although the Pamirs in the most part is a high altitude desert, there are a lot of lakes, a good part of which is a multi-day walking distance. So our wide choice fell today to the number of fingers of one hand. But little does not mean boring.
After leaving “Pamir monster”, the Karakul lake. searching “Blue Danube” in the harsh city of Murghab, and did not understand — was he or not, move towards the longed-for Khorog, where there is a good restaurant and even a Botanical garden. On the way — the “big three” lakes in the Alichur valley. It Yashilkul, Bulunkul and Sasyk-Kul. All so different — Green, High and Stinking Large lakes of the Pamirs. All three of these lakes are within a maximum half hour drive from each other. About them today and speech.
“Green lake” Yashilkul in reality only turns green in certain light
When a certain lighting no, it’s rather blue
Yashikul lake is flowing, dammed, fish. Rich in life. In Soviet times it was spoiled by the attention of scientists. Now only rare photographers, cyclists are maniacs or just strangers look down on its shores.
The lake is surrounded by seemingly lifeless mountains.
Closer to the gay village in the Pamirs is titled “high” lake — Bulunkul. For that height it is full of midges, which however does not bite, but gets into the frame.
Surrounding the lake, the mountains shimmer with different colors. Beauty.
“Poor cousin” in all this splendor of lake Sasykkol (stinky). He was out of luck with water, name, beauty and fish. But in the middle of the day the road looks good.
In the lake flows a certain river.
And on the fountain. They say — in Soviet times there bottled mineral water.
So are the lakes in the Pamirs.
