In Karelia are the largest lakes of Europe – Ladoga and Onega. Stand out for their size also Vygozero (1000 sq km), Topozero. Segozero, Pjaozero, Vodlozero, Kuito, Sumozero. The Lake – The biggest lake of the world

The similarities of lake Baikal and Tanganyika is that they are similar in size and shape, as well as the origin of their basins.
